MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets you connect Sana Learn directly to an AI assistant like Claude and ChatGPT. It can help you query the content you have in Sana and pull learning data and insights, all from within your existing chat client.
Your connected AI client can also make changes for you. It can create a course from scratch or from one you already have, edit its content, and update its settings. It can assign and unassign people to courses and sessions, create groups and smart groups, enroll users in a program, schedule sessions, and create certificates and issue them.

How scopes and permissions work?
Everything an external client does runs as you. If you cannot do something in Sana Learn yourself, you cannot do it through a client either. On top of that, your organization and you can narrow what a client is allowed to do.
Every tool call passes three checks, in this order:
Your role in Sana Learn. Your role decides what you can see and change. A client never gets more than your role gives you.
What your organization allows. When an administrator enables MCP, they choose which scopes clients can ask for. An organization can, for example, allow reading but not writing.
What you approved when you connected. When you authenticate your client against Sana Learn, you choose which of those scopes to grant. If you do not want the AI assistant to write anything, turn write access off here.
