This guide is designed to help partners who have access to review and comment when collaborating on a course. Here, you will learn how to add, answer, and view comments effectively.
Understanding your role
When adding a collaborator on a course, there are two different options available
The collaborator can edit the content
The collaborator can comment the content
In this case, we will deep dive into the role as commenter. By having this access level, you will be able to:
View the content before it is published
Comment the content
You will receive a notification that you have received access to comment.
To start commenting on the content, you can either click on the link in the email or locate the course in Create:
How to add a comment
Adding comments is a great way to provide feedback without altering the original content. Hereโs how to do it:
Open the course
Highlight the text or select the block you want to comment
Click on the comment icon that appears
โEnter your comment in the box. You may tag another collaborator or admin with an '@' to call their attention.
Submit: Click the 'Send button' to submit.
Find and respond to comments
You can find all comments on the content by clicking on Chat in the upper right corner
In the chat, you can filter through all messages, comments and resolved comments
If a comment has been made for a specific text, you can:
See above the comment where the comment has been made
Click 'View' to automatically get to the card
Click on the 'Resolve' button to resolve the comment once it has been addressed
๐กNote: Additional chat messages vs. content-linked comments
Inside the Chat panel, you can also type and send messages directly, without highlighting any text in the course. It is important to understand the difference between these two types of input:
Content-linked comments
Created by highlighting specific text/block and adding a comment.
Clearly connected to a particular part of the course.
Appear in Chat with context and a Resolve option.
Can be filtered and tracked as comments and resolved comments.
Chat messages (general conversation)
Created by typing directly into the Chat input without highlighting content first.
Not linked to any specific text or card in the course.
Appear in the Chat timeline together with other comments, but do not have a Resolve button.
Used for general discussion or questions that are not tied to a particular piece of content.
This means that only comments created from highlighted text can be resolved. Messages typed directly into the Chat are treated as conversation and cannot be marked as resolved.
By hovering over a comment, you can find more options to react:
On your own comment:
Edit
Reply
Resolve
Mark as unresolved
React with emojis
On another collaborators comment:
React
Reply
๐ก Notifications when someone have responded to one of your comments are off by default, if you want to enable this you can do so in your notification settings.
By effectively utilizing the commenting feature, collaborators can provide valuable feedback and ensure the quality of the course content before it is published. Remember, your insights and suggestions are crucial in creating a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
Happy commenting!
