Featuring content on the homepage in Sana refers to highlighting specific content, such as a course or a live session, prominently on the home screen for all users in an organization to see. This is a way to recommend or draw attention to specific content, making it easily accessible and visible to all users right when they access Sana.
What is the value of featuring content on the homepage?
Customizing content on the homepage is valuable for several reasons:
Visibility: Featured content is immediately visible to users upon visiting the homepage, which helps ensure that critical information or resources reach a wide audience.
Highlighting Key Information: The featured content section highlights new and significant courses, making it easier for users to access important information.
Control: Administrators have the authority to choose the content to feature, allowing them to strategically emphasize particular information or resources.
Encourages Self-Enrollment: Featuring optional live sessions or courses on the homepage can motivate users to self-enroll in these educational opportunities.
What do Learners see?
Featured content ends up on the top left of the home screen for all learners in your organization.
The featured content is found in Home, in the first block under For you today. It is marked with the 📢 Featured.
Feature Content for Different Groups
Sana allows greater flexibility and targeting when featuring content, both on the Homepage and Discover. Admins can choose which groups within the organization should see specific featured content, as well as where the content appears.
Setting Up Featured Content
In the Manage section, a new modal makes it easy to set up featured content. Admins can select which user groups should see the content, and the featured content will only be visible to members of those groups.
Organizing and Ordering Featured Content
Admins can rearrange featured content using drag and drop in the Manage section. The order determines how content appears for learners based on how many pieces of featured content are available to each user.
How Featured Content Appears for Learners
The distribution of featured content depends on the total number of pieces available to a learner:
Up to 4 pieces: All featured content appears on both the Homepage and Discover page.
5 to 8 pieces: The first 4 pieces appear on the Homepage, and the remaining pieces (up to 4) appear on the Discover page.
More than 8 pieces: The first 4 pieces appear on the Homepage, the next 4 appear on the Discover page, and additional pieces enter a queue. Queued content becomes available once a learner completes a featured content item that is set to "Hide when completed."
Content Limits
Each learner can have a maximum of 8 pieces of featured content displayed at a time—4 on the Homepage and 4 on the Discover page—with additional content held in a queue as described above.

FAQ
The featured content is still being shown on the home page even after completing it. Why is this happening?
If the completed content is still being featured on the home page, it is likely because "Hide when completed" is not activated.
By enabling this setting, completed courses will be removed from the home page. If you prefer to keep completed featured courses visible, simply leave this option disabled.
