Publishing a course with the right settings and a great description is an essential step in engaging potential learners and giving them a clear understanding of what to expect from your educational content. This article will give an overview of course settings and show you how to craft compelling course descriptions with the help of AI.

Course settings

You can view and edit course settings both in the Create editor and in Manage > Content > Choose the course > Settings.

General settings

Name, description and cover image and Theme of the course.

Estimated time duration for the course: If toggled on, it is automatically calculated and visible for the learners

Advanced general settings

Further down in general settings, you have advanced settings. Here, you can choose if the course is required and/or if the course should follow sequential completion of cards.

Required course

More reminders and higher priority than other assignments.

Toggling on the Required course button marks courses as mandatory. These courses are given priority in learners' to-do list and library, ensuring they are easily accessible and distinguishable from other assignments. Learn more about required content here.

Sequential unlocking

Forces course content to be completed in order.

If you want to make sure that learners complete cards in order, you can toggle on the Sequential completion feature in Settings for self-paced courses. When toggled on, Sequential completion enforces that the cards in a course are completed in order, while still allowing users to navigate and interact with content ahead in the course.*

*Learner view when Sequential unlocking is toggled on. Learners will still be able to navigate freely in the course, but they will be prompted to complete previous cards before they can complete cards further ahead.
